The Guide is contextualized to the development and relief sector and is available free of charge in the following languages English, Espanõl, Français, Português, العربية (Arabic), Italiano, دری (Dari), русский (Russian), all available on the PMDPro Guide Page.
The contents of the Guide to the PMD Pro are aligned with the learning objectives of the PMD Pro levels 1 and 2 certification exams – on-line examination conducted by APMG International that requires candidates to demonstrate that they know and understand the content of the Guide to the PMD Pro and their experience in applying the skills and tools.
The Guide to Program Management for Development Professionals (PgMD Pro) integrates the concepts and tools outlined in PMD Pro into a framework to improve the management of multiple inter-related projects as part of a coordinated program. Development organizations (and therefore development professional) often use the terms project, program, initiative, and portfolio interchangeable. But the misuse of these terms leads to an inaccurate understanding of the distinctions between projects and programs and therefore also between the skills, disciplines, and tools necessary to support the unique requirements of project management and program management.
PgMD Pro fits logically alongside PMD Pro as many of the principles, disciplines, and tools discussed in PMD Pro remain relevant in the context of development program management. Because the guide to PgMD Pro complements PMD Pro, it assumes that readers will have some familiarity with PMD Pro.
The Guide to Program Management for Development Professionals is at its final stage and we expect to launch it on the second semester of 2015. Subscribe on the right sidebar or use our contact form to stay up-to-date and receive an alert when new guide(s) are available.
